Dr Jo Willoughby is leading the protest against a Local Plan proposal to change the designation of a 28.8 hectare area of land skirting Staincross from green space to safeguarded.

The reclassification would mean the area could automatically be changed to building land should the authority run out of other places to build upon.

The draft Local Plan states: “Where there is a shortage of housing land, safeguarded land may be considered where it can be proven that there is no alternative site that can meet the need, and the site is considered to be sustainable.”
