A TEENAGER who was been left paralysed by a mystery brain illness is now looking to the future – and hoping to open his own cafe or restaurant.

Peter Harper, 18, has been diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder - an umbrella term for a variety of unexplained brain conditions.

Doctors have told him they are not sure whether he will ever regain the use of his legs.

Peter, of Woolley Avenue, Wombwell, said: "I'm still stuck in a wheelchair but I'm just getting on with things. I'm signing up at the gym next week to try and control my weight and I'm hoping to set up my own business - a little cafe or restaurant which me and my girlfriend Bethany could run."

Peter was in his second year at Barnsley College and dreamed of joining the Army.
