MPs have been contacted by a parish council which is alarmed at the cuts proposed to bus services in the Penistone district.

Thurgoland Parish Council has written to Angela Smith and Dan Jarvis to highlight its concerns about plans by the Barnsley Bus Partnership to make wide ranging cuts to services.

That plan has been the subject of public consultations and now the partnership, made up of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, Barnsley Council and bus companies, will decide on how to proceed.

They have faced criticism from across the area over the plans, which would leave some communities with no bus service and others without direct links to Barnsley or Sheffield.
