IT’S game, set and match for tennis lovers in Mapplewell.

A new tennis court has been opened in Mapplewell Park after £70,000 of section 106 funding was ploughed into creating a new facility to replace the old dilapidated one.

The original courts in the park on Blacker Road had fallen into disrepair so they were dug up and landscaped, with the new court put on a new site.

Coun Roy Miller said: “It’s great to see S106 money being spent in such a positive way. The improvements at Mapplewell Park provide long-term sustainability of a much-used community asset within the local area. We look forward to seeing residents using and enjoying these new local facilities.”
