A DISABLED couple who can never find a parking space outside their bungalow say they cannot believe a nearby street has been granted the ‘residents only’ parking scheme they’ve been told they could not have.

Malcolm and Glenis Cartwright, of Redbrook Road, Gawber, say their life is being made a misery by people parking outside their home to visit Barnsley Hospital.

The 13-or-so on-street spaces outside their home are included in the wider hospital area parking scheme, but unlike surrounding streets, their spaces have ‘shared use’.

Their £20 a year permit allows Malcolm and Glenis to park there as long as they want, but anyone else - such as hospital visitors - can park there for up to two hours.
