THERE was more joy than heartache for teenagers opening their GCSE results in Barnsley yesterday.
Several schools recorded their best ever results, including one school formerly among Barnsley’s worst-performing which has seen a dramatic turnaround.
The exams have been tougher this year, and the grading system has changed significantly, but many of Barnsley’s bright-sparks have done exceptionally well nonetheless.
