A TOWN centre team of police officers assembled specifically to tackle antisocial behaviour in Peel Square has had a busy start.

The team, which started this week, is investigating a disturbance on Monday in which a ‘dispute’ broke out between several parties, some of whom had been drinking.

PC Craig Sumpter said: “We’ve only been here a few days but we are getting into their ribs. There was a disturbance in Peel Square at lunchtime which we are currently investigating. We are examining CCTV footage and enquiries are being made with local shopkeepers to see if we can establish who it was.”

An individual was also arrested in Peel Square on Tuesday for using foul language.
