SHE’S suffered strokes and a heart attack and at the age of 85 Sybil Davey should be letting other people look after her.

But Sybil is carer to her daughter Lorraine, who has Down’s Syndrome and has now been diagnosed with dementia as well - aged just 52.

Sybil says she saves the tax payer thousands by looking after her daughter at home rather than putting her into full time care.

But she feels totally demoralised that the help she does receive is being continually ‘penny-pinched away’.

It’s a story which Michael Dugher MP says shows that more needs to be done to make sure people like Sybil and Lorraine get whatever support they can.

“By looking after her myself I save the council at least £4,000 per month,” said Sybil, of Eaden Crescent, Hoyland.
