TWO pensioners were arrested by police during a protest over free train travel being axed for the elderly.
George Arthur, of Church Street, Jump, has been charged with obstructing a police officer and fare evasion and Tony Nuttall of Honeywell Grove, Barnsley, is charged with obstructing a police officer.
The pair have been bailed to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on July 7.
Tony and George are members of the Barnsley Retirees Action Group, which has led on a campaign to restore free travel for OAPs following cuts to concessions in March.
Their arrests came after about 40 campaigners held a rally on the platform at Sheffield railway station after travelling there from Barnsley.
Footage posted on YouTube shows five British Transport Police officers restraining Tony, 65, by holding him and forcing down his head before cuffing his hands together behind his back.
As this is happening a woman can be heard shouting 'What are you doing to him? Five people? He's an old man - let him go. Just talk to him.'
