A PETITION has been started after bus service changes have left people and pupils unable to get to work or school.

The petition is calling for the re-instating of two services in the area.

A second complication of the changes is that the ‘old’ buses ran more frequently and on the cusp of the 9.30am deadline for pensioners’ free fares, meaning drivers usually used their discretion to allow them on board for free.

But now the service runs earlier, meaning those wanting to travel either have to pay or must wait for a later service.

The routes affected are the 20 and 21 services, said Penistone resident Jeanette Edwards, who has organised the petition.
