Barnsley forward Mike Phenix has joined Southport on loan until January.
Phenix, 26, has only made two substitute appearances for The Reds since joining from AFC Telford last season.
The former Bolton Wanderers youth player has struggled with illness and spent a spell with Macclesfield Town towards the back end of last season.
He was an unused sub in Saturday's loss to Chesterfield but featured regularly in pre-season.
Phenix will be with the Conference outfit until January 3.
