MUSICAL shoppers have been making the most of Barnsley Market’s latest addition - a piano that was donated by an anonymous member of the public.

Having been received by local charity and concert promoter, Music in the Round, it’s found a home on the venue’s upper level and has already been causing quite a stir with passers-by who have been keen to showcase their talent.

Music in the Round’s work includes a concert series at Emmanuel Church, Huddersfield Road, as well as family and school concerts at The Civic and a monthly music group for refugees.

Coun Tim Cheetham, cabinet spokesman, told the Chronicle: “We’re thrilled with the market’s new addition and hope people enjoy playing the piano. We’d like to thank Music in the Round and the anonymous donor for kindly donating the piano to our famous market.”
