PIE-ECK there were some glorious entries into a savoury pie maker contest held in Barnsley.
The inaugural McStables Annual Pie Off last Saturday, launched by foodie and Chronicle columnist Michelle Clarke Stables, attracted 12 contenders all vying to be named best savoury pie maker in town.
King of the pies was a chicken, ham and walnut pie which had whole eggs running through the middle of it, made by Dutchman Danny Bakker.

It’s our belief that news should be available to everyone regardless of their circumstance. But we need a little helping hand to do so.
Production Editor, Ashley Ball, said: "In an ever changing media world, it’s important that news is reported correctly and without any hidden agenda.
Your support allows us to keep holding decision-makers to account and report on everything that happens in the town, good or bad, fairly."
