AROUND 25,000 new homes will need building in Barnsley between now and 2033, according to a new report.

A new 20-year plan just released by the council sets out its ambitions for housing, investment and management in the borough.

The plan states that housing growth is important to ensure a sustainable and thriving housing market that supports Barnsley's economy. It suggests 20,000 to 25,000 new homes will need building in the next 20 years.

Housing is one of four planned council strategies which also includes jobs and business growth; transport and employment and skills.
