PLANS to extend a housing development in Goldthorpe were approved by Barnsley Council planning officials on Tuesday.

The Barnburgh View site being built by Gleeson Homes, off Barnburgh Lane, will be extended with a further 61 houses to be built to take the development past 200 dwellings in total.

Just three objections were made about the site but Dearne South Coun and planning board member May Noble raised her concerns on behalf of residents with regards to speeding near the site.

With the road outside the development leading into a national speed limit zone soon after the development it’s believed that motorists build up speed in advance.
