A ROYSTON councillor’s ambitious goal to re-open Royston’s railway station has received widespread backing.

The Chronicle revealed Coun Malcolm Clements’ plan to restore passenger transport services to the village earlier this month and more than 100 people have praised the idea on the Chronicle’s Facebook page since.

Coun Clements said: “It’s great that it’s had such a positive response but I’d like residents who support the idea and are prepared to get involved in exploring the next steps to get in touch with me. Costs are still unclear, that’s why we need a group to further it and show that there’s real community support.”
