Nine leading organisations have shown their commitment to providing jobs and training by signing One Barnsley’s apprenticeship pledge.

That aims to create 500 new apprenticeship positions by April next year. Bosses from some of Barnsley’s largest employers have committed to work towards employing 2.5 per cent of their workforce in apprenticeship positions over the coming year by formally signing the pledge.

Organisations that have already signed include Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Barnsley Council, South Yorkshire Police, Jobcentre Plus, Barnsley Premier Leisure, Koyo Bearings, Stagecoach Bus and Barnsley College.

Colin Booth, Barnsley College principal, said, “We anticipate that more employers will sign over the next couple of weeks. Employers that sign the pledge are demonstrating their commitment to providing excellent apprenticeship opportunities within their business and their support must be commended."
