SOUTH Yorkshire Police has insisted it is equipped to deal with CCTV footage despite several reports of delays in officers retrieving images.

A police spokesman said: “We absolutely have the hardware and software, as well as the staffing capacity, to recover CCTV footage relevant to police investigations and it’s not an issue of concern for us.

“However, there may be occasions where victims of crime do not feel satisfied with the service they’ve received, and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with them direct.

“We have had great success in using CCTV in our investigations, and often issue CCTV images to the public and the media to help in detecting crime and apprehending offenders. We also regularly circulate CCTV images to our officers and staff, who are often best placed to identify suspects.”
