POLICE have confirmed they are investigating a house fire after it was believed to have been started deliberately.
The fire was reported at a home on Sheffield Road, Barnsley, on Tuesday at 4.50pm.
When crews arrived the fire had taken hold of the first floor and roof space.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “The fire is believed to have started in a bin and then spread to the property, it is currently being treated as deliberate and an investigation has been launched.
“No injuries were reported at the scene. Enquiries by both our officers and the fire service are ongoing.”
