POLICE investigating a fatal collision in Cudworth involving a cyclist last month have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses.

Jack Platt, 78, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the Pontefract Road crash on November 25 at 12.30pm but died four days later. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

Police are keen to trace and identify a number of pedestrians who were walking along the busy road at the time of the collision, including two males walking together towards Aldi, as well as a man walking his dog walking in the direction of Shafton.

A police spokesman said: “Officers also would like to trace a small white hatchback, which was seen driving in the area at the time of the collision.

“A 52-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”

An inquest into Mr Platt’s death has been opened ad adjourned, pending further enquiries.
