POLICE have named and shamed the ringleader of a gang of youths who armed themselves with missiles to attack buses and cars and plagued the streets with antisocial behaviour.

Brenden Steer, 18, who lives in Measbrough Dike, was named at a community safety meeting by police inspector Julie Mitchell.

She made the decision after Steer was taken to court last month and a civil injunction was served against him to rein in his yobbish behaviour. He is now banned from entering Sunderland Terrace, the playing field/park off Doncaster Road or the cemetery; associating with three younger people; throwing stones at vehicles; or acting in an antisocial way.

Earlier this year the Chronicle reported how buses had to be diverted from the area because of youths arming themselves with rocks and stones and hurling them at passing vehicles.
