POLICE have taken the unusual step to name a man they want to speak to in connection with a stabbing.

Officers would like to speak to Steven Watkins, 29, who is believed to be in the Thurnscoe area, in connection with an alleged assault that put a 33-year-old-man in hospital with stab wounds.

The assault took place on Houghton Road on Sunday September 28. The injured man has since been discharged from hospital.

Police officers have subsequently carried out searches at addresses in Thurnscoe but have not been able to find Mr Watkins.

Posters have been put up around Thurnscoe and anyone who has information about his current whereabouts should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 510 0f November 13.
