Rescued hedgehogs have been released back into the wild across Barnsley.

A total of 75 spiky critters were released at sites across the borough on Sunday, starting at 5pm.

They were transported from Hull and had been injured, had poor health or had been too small to survive and were introduced back into the countryside.

The programme was carried out by the Barnsley Biodiveristy Trust and staff from Barnsley Council's parks and rights of way departments.
