A REPORT bringing together data on ‘how and why’ every aspect of Barnsley’s population is changing has been updated for 2019.

The ‘Borough Profile’, which was created last year, this week received an update with changes approved by the council’s ruling cabinet on Wednesday.

The changes reflect Barnsley’s changing make-up in areas including demographics, crime, housing, transport and education, as of May 2018 - with figures as varied as the country of birth of citizens, the percentage of children in care and numbers of people who live alone.

Coun Chris Lamb, cabinet spokesman for environment and transportation, said he ‘welcomed’ the report which would help the council to make informed decisions.

“This report isolates the areas that require the most investment,” he added.

“There are areas we need to improve and we are committed to making the borough the best place to live, work and visit we can.”
