AN 89-year-old’s mission to finally have a post box installed on a Cudworth road has paid off.

Wilfred Skelton, of Darfield Road, Cudworth, has campaigned for months for something that he says is ‘vital’ for many elderly people in his local area.

A study was carried out by the Royal Mail in November and December to gauge whether or not a post box was necessary before one was fitted last week.

Wilfred said: “I’m 89 and there are many people of a similar age around the Darfield Road area - we simply couldn’t post our letters. The closest post box was a £1.70 bus journey away.”
