BARNSLEY Post Office on Pitt Street underwent a deep clean this morning following reports of a coronavirus outbreak at the sorting office.

Workers were stood outside the building from 8am following reports of the outbreak.

Deliveries from the building have been seriously affected over the past few weeks due to the ongoing pandemic.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “There have been several cases of Covid-19 in the vicinity and the Post Office premises were deep cleaned as a precaution and as a result the branch opened slightly later than usual this morning. Staff at the Barnsley office were tested last week and all their results came back negative.”
