THEY have not had a holiday for the past six years because all their spare cash has been spent caring for injured and orphaned hedgehogs.

But Allan and Anita Broadhead would not have it any other way.

The couple insist all the time and money they lavish on their rescued creatures and the ‘hogsprickle’ they have created in a former garden shed, is worth it.

Retired lorry driver Allan, 76, says his motives for helping the hedgehogs are quite straight forward.

“If there were not people doing what we do within 25 years there would not be a single hedgehog left in this country and that would be a great shame,” he said.
