STAFF at a Barnsley care home say they are ‘thrilled’ to receive another ‘good’ rating following the latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The Grange and Elm Court in Cundy Cross caters to those living with mental health or addiction issues, and was rated as ‘good’ across all five categories.

The independent regulator visited the care home on January 30 and said the ‘service had an open and inclusive culture which encouraged communication and learning’.

The regulator stated: “People spoke positively about the relationships they had with the staff team.

“People told us staff were kind and caring, maintained their dignity and respected them.

“Care plans detailed people’s needs and people were involved in developing their plans.

“The registered manager was in the process of developing more person-centred plans so they were individualised and contained people’s choices and decisions.”

Manager Vicki Ellis said she and staff at The Grange and Elm Court were pleased with the report.

She said: “We have worked hard to create and maintain an open, inclusive culture at our home. Communication is absolutely vital, and I was pleased to see that inspectors had recognised our efforts and the positive outcomes we have achieved.

“Each person’s needs are unique, and I was thrilled the report highlighted that we kept people safe and supported while staying with us. We encourage our residents to live as independently as possible.”

“Again, this was highlighted as a positive part of our report.

“Our staff members are friendly, knowledgeable and respectful, and they take time to get to know each of our residents. I couldn’t ask any more from my team. They’re a credit to the home, and to the company.”

The Grange and Elm Court is managed by Your Health Limited. Managing director Vicki Weller said: “I am so proud of Vicki and her dedicated staff members for their continued hard work. Residents speak very highly of the service, and all feel safe, comfortable and well supported during their time at The Grange and Elm Court.

“The report recognises the home as being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led, which is a credit to the team. Everyone pitches in to ensure the service is the very best it can be.

“The home offers a very special service; it’s wonderful to be a part the supportive community that The Grange and Elm Court has created.”
