A PRIMARY school has been put into special measures following a damning report by education inspectors.

Oakhill Primary Academy, on Doncaster Road at Ardsley, was visited by Ofsted last month. At its last inspection in 2011, prior to converting to an academy, it was judged to be good overall.

It is the first primary academy school in Barnsley to be put in special measures - which is the worst possible category of failing schools.

Parents told the Chronicle they had ‘lost faith and confidence’ in the school’s leadership and said serious questions will be asked of the headteacher and governing body at a meeting on Tuesday.
