A SHOPPING list of prime retailers has been drawn up for the flagship Better Barnsley scheme.

Big brand names such as H and M, River Island, Jack and Jones, Schuh, Dr Martens, Lush, HMV, DW Sports and Footasylum all feature on a list of shops considered suitable for the retail arm of the £100m town centre regeneration.

The list also features major food outlets and restaurants such as Five Guys, TGI Fridays, Krispy Kreme, Bella Italia, Las Iguanas, Nando’s and Handmade Burger Company.

It has been pulled together for the council by business consultants FSP which looked at what businesses could be attracted to the town centre, its main competitors and other details such as how much shoppers spend.

The new shops scheme, which is being named The Glassworks, will run through the end of and at the back of the Metropolitan Centre.
