IT’S nearly three months since a Barnsley street was resurfaced - except for the area under this car.

The Vauxhall Vectra was parked, seemingly abandoned, on Shaw Lane, close to its junction with Racecommon Road when the road was resurfaced on March 16.

Barnsley Council had contacted South Yorkshire Police for assistance in tracing the owner and getting the vehicle removed before the work, but this was unsuccessful so contractors pressed ahead and surfaced around the car.

But this week, the vehicle was clamped. According to the DVLA website the car is taxed, but its MOT expired last October.

The council said once the vehicle is removed, the rest of the road will be resurfaced.

A spokesman said: “The area inspectors are aware of the situation and will let us know when we can return to complete the works.”
