A PROTEST group fighting to protect greenbelt land in Hoyland Common is asking people to support it at drop-in meetings across Barnsley borough.
The Save Hoyland Common Greenbelt Group was set up in opposition to swathes of greenbelt being earmarked for thousands of houses in Barnsley Council’s Local Plan, which covers development across all of Barnsley up to 2033.
The drop-in sessions started today in Barnsley. They are on at the Better Barnsley Unit, Cheapside, today and also on November 21 from 10.30-12.30pm and 1-3pm on both days.
Other sessions are on at: Cudworth library, Cudworth Centre of Excellence, Roberts Street, on Wednesday from 10-noon and 5-7pm; Goldthorpe library, Barnsley Road, on Tuesday and Thursday from 10-noon, and 5-7pm; The Hoyland Centre, High Croft, on Monday and Tuesday from 10-noon and 5-7pm; Penistone Market Hall tomorrow from 10-noon; Carlton Community College on November 20 from 5-7pm; Wombwell library, Station Road, on November 20 from 10-noon and 5-7pm.
