A TEN-YEAR-OLD swimmer from Tankersley who dreams of competing in the Olympics has been nominated for a Proud of Barnsley award for the commitment and dedication she shows to her sport.

Abigail Miles, ten, of Carr Lane, is under nines Yorkshire champion and has been put forward in the sporting achievement category.

Abigail has been swimming with Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club for two years, but has only been competing for one.

She has just competed in the Amateur Swimming Association north east regionals and came in the top ten for all seven events she took part in.

 

Abigail was nominated by family friend Cheryl Booth-Dobson who has known Abigail and her family for around five years.

Cheryl, of Queensway, Hoyland, said: "Abigail's dedication to swimming is unbelievable - she gets up and trains before and after school and during the weekend. She never complains and never misses.

"She loves to swim she gives so much inspiration to the children at school and we are so proud of her."
