PUPILS from Kirk Balk Academy took part in a graduation ceremony to celebrate their work during the year.

The year 8 students donned caps and gowns for theevent and provided with scrolled certificates, which was aimed at encouraging pride in achievement.

The school is part of the Northern Education Trust and chief executive, Rob Tarn, said: “I believe that this is the kind of experience our young people will still be talking about long into the future and it is essential for embedding a sense of aspiration and a feeling that their potential is unlimited at such an important stage in their education as they embark on KS4 studies, the next phase in their journey.”

Kirk Balk principal Dean Buckley added: “The graduation ceremonies have been excellent and testament to the hard work and dedication that has been shown by our great students. We have achieved so much this year and are looking forward to our record-breaking GCSE results in August.”
