BRITISH Gas has apologised after Royston children were reportedly left without their usual hot dinners due to a problem with a school’s gas supply.

Summerfields Primary Academy has allegedly been faced with a ‘heat-or-eat’ dilemma since September according to angry parents, who told the Chronicle that a malfunctioning boiler meant the school’s kitchen could not fully function while its central heating system was in use.

But Leigh Franks, from British Gas, told the Chronicle that a faulty meter was to blame for the shortage, which had a knock-on effect on the school’s ability to fully function and left some of its ovens out of action.
