VIDEOS could be the key to SATs success at a Dearne school.

Pupils at Highgate Primary in Goldthorpe, part of the Astrea Academy Trust, have been creating and presenting their own inspirational videos to help prepare their classmates for their exams.

Teacher Natalie Whitehouse said: “We are so proud of their work ethic and how much they have achieved this year. Alongside this we have launched whole school class blogs, which are used in lessons and at home as well as access to various apps for reading, times tables and maths.”

One of the pupils who has embraced the medium is Sophia Morris, who created her own three-minute long clip where she gives tips on staying focus, keeping calm and succeeding going into tests.

Mrs Whitehouse added: “In addition to this they are so confident with the use of technology to support their learning and develop their independence that we use flipped learning on a daily basis. This is where children independently watch a video that has been selected or created and embedded on the class blog to provide instructions or teach new skills at their own pace.”

The school uses online personal journal tech Seesaw to support the children’s learning at home.

She added: “We set weekly challenges on Seesaw, including reading to a pet and math tutorial videos. Children love to go home, scan the QR code and access their journal - here they can post videos, audios and photographs. It has encouraged children to go home and do extra learning.”
