RAIDERS smashed their way into Wortley Post Office in the latest of a series of raids on businesses in the district.

Offenders waited until barely after pub closing time to strike at the business, first cutting out the lock from the external door then smashing their way through an internal door to get into the shop.

It appears that one intruder entered the premises, but managed to keep virtually out of the vision of the store’s CCTV cameras - suggesting an experienced and knowledgeable offender.

A stock of cigarettes were taken from behind the counter, along with the cash drawer from the till, with the break-in continuing despite the shop’s alarm sounding.
