Marcus Pedersen is getting to grips with the English lifestyle – and so is his dog Tyson – thanks to Reds assistant Micky Mellon.

Mellon and his family looked after the dog for almost a week while Pedersen returned to Norway shortly after joining Barnsley on a season-long loan. The striker was going to put Tyson in kennels before Mellon intervened and offered to help.

The Reds number two told the Chronicle: "The cheeky beggar has taken it back now and my kids are devastated, we really enjoyed looking after Tyson. He's a tiny, little thing and is as far away from Tyson the boxer as you could imagine.

"We were telling him to sit for three days and he disobeyed us, but then we realised he didn't understand English, so we learned that the Norwegian word for sit is 'sitt', so we said that and he started obeying us.

"Marcus wanted to get back to Norway pretty quickly with his girlfriend and we were more than happy to help out, it's how we do things round here."
