Barnsley have been drawn at home to Scunthorpe United in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

Scunthorpe were relegated to League Two last season and the Barnsley squad includes several of their former players such as Jim McNulty and Chris Dagnall.

The two clubs have met 35 times, the most recent being in March 2011 when Marlon Harewood bagged a brace at Oakwell to secure a 2-1 win which was the Red's first over the Iron in six meetings. The clubs met once before in the League Cup over two legs in 1980 when the Reds won 1-0 at Scunthorpe then 2-1 at Oakwell.

The midweek fixture will take place during the week commencing August 5, just after the first league match of the season. The league fixtures will be announced on Wednesday.

Last season, the Capital One Cup was the first match of the season and Barnsley won a 4-3 thriller at Rochdale which involved goalkeeper Ben Alnwick being sent off for a headbutt in the 90th minute and defender Bobby Hassell playing in goal for extra-time.
