Barnsley's match at Nottingham Forest was called off today after the City Ground pitch failed an inspection.

The Reds had been hoping to end a run of six games without a win and move out of the relegation with a victory over mid-table Forest. The match is now expected to be rearranged for a midweek date later this month.

Barnsley could be five points adrift of the relegation zone if fourth-bottom Birmingham City win at Bolton Wanderers tomorrow night. Second-bottom Sunderland could move level on points with the Reds if they win at home to Sheffield Wednesday today.

Barnsley's next match will now be a fourth successive home game against local rivals Sheffield United on Saturday.
