Barnsley played out a goalless draw at Conference side Guiseley in their second pre-season match on Tuesday.

The Reds have now kept clean sheets in both friendlies, following the 1-0 win at Stalybridge on Saturday, but have only netted with an own goal.

Right-back George Williams came in for James Bree, who has a dead leg while teenager George Maris replaced trialist Iain Vigurs in midfield, fit-again goalkeeper Adam Davies was swapped for Christian Dibble and Lewin Nyatanga replaced Paul Digby.

Digby's place in defensive midfield was taken by defender Alfie Mawson who almost opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a powerful 30-yard effort that was tipped over and proved to be Barnsley's only real effort on goal.

Sam Winnall had earlier missed a fine chance after being put through by Marley Watkins and was taken off just before half-time after feeling a tightening in his hamstring.

It was not until the final ten minutes when Barnsley threatened again through lively teenaged substitute Matty Templeton who fired a shot just wide of the right post.

Guiseley had several chances to win it with Nicky Boshell firing wide ten yards out and ex-Red Rob Atkinson heading over from a corner.

Barnsley: Davies; Williams (Scott, 67mins), Nyatanga, Roberts, Smith; Mawson (Templeton, 73), Scowen, Maris (Ofori, 78), Wilkinson, Watkins, Winnall (Abbott, 40).
