Barnsley are pleased to have Lloyd Isgrove back in action after he came off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday.

The injury-plagued winger, who is out of contract at the end of the season, had previously played just one minute of League One football this season in the 2-0 win at Bradford City on August 11. His other appearances under Daniel Stendel had come in the Carabao Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy, starting two games overall and coming off the bench in four others.

Coach Andreas Winkler said: “Lloyd is a real winger. At the moment, when you look at the dugout it is nice to have Lloyd Isgrove on the bench. I am happy that he is not injured or ill. It is nice to have him back and hopefully he can keep his shape and be an important player for the squad.”

Isgrove was a much-heralded signing when he returned to Barnsley on a permanent deal from Southampton last year following a loan spell in the 2015/16 promotion season. But he has played just 23 matches in 18 months at Oakwell.

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough loanee, who turns 26 next month, has started 47 league games in his career. He has played 88 games overall, scoring four goals – two of which have come in 59 appearances for Barnsley.
