Barnsley recovered from conceding a first-minute goal to beat Bradford in a Yorkshire derby in front of the Sky TV cameras on Sunday.

The Bantams took the lead after just 45 seconds but Barnsley got an early goal in the second half when Bradford's Rory McArdle headed into his own net.

Sam Winnall then made it 2-1 midway through the second half then Kane Hemmings confirmed the win in injury time. The result gave Barnsley their first back-to-back victories of the season and moved them up four places in the League One table to 13th.

Danny Wilson made three changes to the team which lost on penalties at Oldham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday. Centre-backs Peter Ramage and Martin Cranie replaced Joe Dudgeon and Reece Brown with Lewin Nyatanga moving to left-back. Devante Cole replaced Keith Treacy who was on the bench two days after getting married.

The Reds got off to an awful start when a good move saw Billy Clarke slip in Jason Kennedy who fired into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box after three quarters of a minute.

Barnsley responded well with visiting goalkeeper Jordan Pickford having to be on top form to turn wide 25-yarders from Luke Berry and Sam Winnall, who later had an effort tipped onto the top of the bar from inside the box and had a header clawed out of the top corner.

The Reds levelled on 48 minutes when Hourihane's right wing free-kick was glanced in. Lewin Nyatanga celebrated but it came off McArdle.

Nyatanga also played a part in the second goal as the left-back overlapped and fired in a low cross which Winnall smashed in for 2-1 on 65 minutes.

Bradford never really looked like levelling, with their best chance falling to Aaron McLean who headed over from close range.

Hemmings, who had only been on the bench for three minutes, secured the win with seconds remaining with a fine finish into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box.
