SOUTH Yorkshire’s only heritage railway line is set to undergo some essential maintenance work over the winter months.

Elsecar Heritage Railway, based at Elsecar Heritage Centre, will be undergoing heavy maintenance work on the track line while the season is quiet.

The Winter Warmer service will continue to run as advertised but on some weeks only a shorter section of the line will be in use.

Work will mean total removal of some sections of the track so that foundations can be replaced and repaired.

The buffet shop will also remain open each Sunday and staff will be happy to update people on the progress of the works.
