THE FORGE Tidy Team fell short of its targets this year because of increased instances of dog fouling and fly tipping, according to the South Area Council.

The Tidy Team is a community cleaning group, which undertakes projects on behalf of the council.

The two-year £300,000 project will run until August, but the team hopes its contract will be extended to March 2017.

A report on the team which will be given at today’s South Area Council meeting blames this on increased dog fouling and and ‘explosion’ in the amounts of littering, because more time is being spent on clean-up and litter picking in response to requests
