RESIDENTS of a Wombwell street have been complaining about noise, litter and drug use after a group of homeless people moved into woodland near their homes.

Residents of Rimington Road said the group, who they believe to be drug users, started living in the woods approximately two weeks ago.The group's small encampment includes a tent, settee, camp fire and an upturned commercial dustbin.

Rimington Road resident Tarah Ruston, 31, said she has called the police's 101 service about the group nine times - but they were unable to move them along.Tarah said: "All the street has rang and complained. It is not what you want around your family, I have seen needles down there.

"It is getting to the point where I am not sleeping. I have had enough. We can't even socialise in the garden with our friends for their shouting. They have been stripping off around the fire and using everything as a toilet."

In a statement, a South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said:  "Work is ongoing to resolve any concerns and the area will be subject to further patrols."
