DUST being kicked up during construction of a major housing development is causing misery for residents who say it is so bad they can’t open windows or hang washing out.
Planning permission for the 40-acre plot at Mapplewell - being developed by Avant Homes, building 174 houses and Harron Homes, another 141 - was granted by the council two years ago.
Some homes are already complete but it is understood construction of the remaining housing could take a further two to three years.
Steve Chambers, 59, lives opposite the site on Carr Green Lane. He says residents have been battling with dust from construction for months and has made several complaints to the council.
