A LANDMARK factory building that has fallen into disrepair is to be restored to provide accommodation for an expanding company in Dodworth.
The former Beardsall Bros soft drinks factory in High Street, known locally as 'the old pop factory' will be remodelled to provide a new home for a surveying and engineering company called First Horizon, which is currently based at Millhouse Green.
That firm has moved once already, to the Bullhouse Mill complex but it now needs larger premises because of growing staff numbers and will maintain the history of the site by formally naming the building The Old Pop Factory.
Barnsley Council has approved a planning application which will see the premises converted from a factory into offices, with an extension going up to replace existing outbuildings.
