A COUPLE who have served the Grimethorpe community for almost 30 years retired this week.

Postmistress Stella Milner and her husband, David, have run the village’s Post Office, on High Street, for 29 years but Monday marked their last day. They’re looking forward to spending more time with their family in their retirement.

Stella told the Chronicle: “It’s sad as we’ve been here for 29 years but now is the time to retire. There’s been ups and downs and although Grimethorpe has had its fair share of criticism, it’s a wonderful village and it’s full of decent people who we will miss.”
