A £10,000 reward is being offered to help track down a murder suspect who is thought to be hiding out in the area.

Crimestoppers and South Yorkshire Police Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright have teamed up to offer the reward for information leading to the arrest of John Heald, the man suspected of murdering a Bridlington landlady.

John Heald, 53, is also wanted following a serious sexual assault in Sheffield. Heald, who originates from South Yorkshire, was believed to have been staying at the guest house before Ms Carter was killed.

Police raided a property in Wombwell earlier today as part of their investigations - but say the tip off was a case of mistaken identity. Earlier this week, they were searching a patch of land near Cortonwood.

Crimestoppers spokesman Dave Hunter added: "As a local hotelier, Bei Carter was well-known throughout the Bridlington community, and it is truly a tragedy to have lost her to such a sickening act of violence.

"I urge anyone who has seen this man, or has any information about his whereabouts, to contact Crimestoppers immediately without the fear of their identity being revealed."
